ASK JINNA: PAPERLESS POST SAVED MY SUMMER GAME NIGHT (& FUTURE LIFE EVENTS)!

Hey Everyone! I am so excited because I have partnered with Paperless Post to review and customize some pretty cool stationary and invites for some events I have planned in the next few weeks and months.

The summer is almost over so it’s time to invite my best girl friends and their kids over for a game night with me and my mini me, Sierra Giselle. Paperless Post is a saint and it literally saved me so much time and energy. I had so much fun customizing my invite and envelope (which I think is so dope). I wanted to design something that my friends would want to keep forever for memory sake – the game night is going to be LIT so why not have a FIRE invite to go with it. The site also allows you to add your guest’s emails or addresses to the site so that the names and addresses can be printed right on the envelope – no need to hand write anything. Check out the invitation I made with my daughter:

I’ve watched shows like Keeping Up with the Kardashians and the Real Housewives of Potomac that have inspired me to pay attention details and that even invitations should be well thought out and pretty/cool enough that the invitee wants to keep the card for a lifetime. I’ve seen these women pay hundreds of dollars for a baby shower or Girls Night In invitation that they also had to mail out themselves (rather their assistants) – no one has time to be licking stamps and standing online at the post office. Paperless Post does it all for you!

Paperless Post offers great birthday party invitations, graduation party invitations, and invitations for special announcements. Below are a couple of my favorites on the site:

My daughter is obsessed with Unicorns so I thought the invite above was adorable

My 5-year-old is into manicures and playing with makeup so this gives me an idea for her birthday invite (coming up in November)

This invite is perfect for a summer BBQ

I was drawn to invite because I am from New York City and it’s so New York!

Are you shopping for custom stationary or planning an important event in your life? Be sure to check out Paperless Post for all the things you need.

Disclosure: The opinions on this blog are all mine!

5 MANTRAS I SAY DAILY FOR MY BEST SELF EVER

I like to believe I have the highest form of self esteem but every woman has days when she doesn’t feel her best – you could’ve had a bad night’s sleep or your aunt flow could be visiting or a stranger could’ve said something not-so-pleasant and pissed you off. To go even deeper, you may have been bullied growing up or experienced your first break-up (friend or significant other) andย  may be looking for a boost in the way you feel.ย  I started writing mantras on sticky notes and hanging them next to my mirror when I experienced a year of hardships.

A mantra is a positive statement or slogan that is repeated frequently. The more positive statements you hear and say out loud, the better your energy and thoughts become. After my year of hardships,ย  I felt so low and unwanted but then I read an article about your thoughts and the things you say to yourself everyday and how that affects your everyday mood and healing process.

Here are the 5 Mantras I say every morning while doing my hair and makeup:

“I am Enough”

“I am open and receptive to all good”

“I trust that I, and only I, know what’s best for me”

“I am doing the best I can with what I have everyday”

” I am a beautiful work in progress”

Saying these has brought my positive energy back and I hope they can help you out when you’re not feeling so hot.

THE BEST BEAUTY ADVICE I RECEIVED FROM MY MOM

I know that Mother’s Day has passed but it’s May and I am celebrating my mom and being a mom all month long.

Growing up, I remember shopping for lotions and perfumes with my mom and sitting in Dominican and African hair braiding salons for hours while my mom got her hair did. She taught me from a young age that beauty was important but, not everything, for you to feel good – it’s not everything but it feels good when you feel and look beautiful. I have fond memories of playing dress up at my paternal grandmother’s house on the weekends – she would let me play in whatever I wanted at just 7-years-old (eye shadow, foundation, lotions, perfumes, whatever!).

Grandma was the true MVP growing up LMAO. I learned so much about being a woman, a mom and beauty junky from my mom and the other women around me so I decided to share my best beauty advice from my mom. Here are the best beauty tips I received from my mom growing up:

1. Drink Water

2. Get Enough Sleep at night unless you will have permanent bags under your eyes ( I, unfortunately was born with permanent bags LOL)

3. Take care of your teeth (brush twice a day or after every meal and floss)

4. Wash your face in the morning and at night (make sure your wash your makeup off every night! – this is very important to experience clear skin)

5. Body positivity – Big breast, foreheads and butts run in my family (I always had big breast growing up but since I lost weight I don’t have much of anything Haha) so embrace your body and wear what makes you look and feel good. Be comfortable and love yourself, always.

My mom shared many more tips but the ones above are my favorite and I cannot wait to pass them down to my mini-me, Sierra Giselle ๐Ÿ™‚

NOVEMBER IS MY FAVORITE MONTH OF THE YEAR AND HERE’S WHY

November is hands down my favorite month of the year! The weather is crisp but not too chilly and the leaves fall off the trees so beautifully. Why November? I’m glad you asked because here’s a list of my favorite things about November:

It’s my FAVORITE person in the world’s Birthday is this month (my daughter, Sierra Giselle) – My life changed forever and for the better when I had my mini-me at 3:36 on November 7, 2013. I still cannot believe she turns five years old today. YIKES. Happy Birthday baby girl ๐Ÿ™‚

So, my daughter was born two weeks before MY birthday. Do I really need to elaborate on this one. HAHA. (This year, and many years in the past, my birthday has landed on Thanksgiving!)

As mentioned above, my birthday falls on Thanksgiving this year and I am beyond excited because it’s my favorite holiday. My favorite day and favorite holiday equals me in heaven for the day ๐Ÿ™‚

Holiday gatherings – Thanksgiving and Friendsgiving (I consider my close friends family)

Sweater weather – You cannot go wrong with a cozy sweater that fits your body well. It’s perfect to wear with a light jacket or a heavier one for when temps drop outside.

FOOD and SWEET POTATO PIE (My favorites! I love Thanksgiving food and desserts and I save all my really bad eating days for this time of the year.)
