FASHION READING LIST

I was reading an article on fashionista.com about new fashion based books that a true fashionista should have in her bookcase. I can’t wait to read the book about Coco Chanel. Check out the list below:

1. Chanel-Her Life – A new biography about Coco Chanel. The author, Justine Picardie, was allowed access to the Chanel archive. The book examines her very private personal life and her fashion house. Karl Lagerfeld illustrated all the photos featured in the book.

2. Diana Vreeland: The Eye has to Travel – This fashion coffee table read tracks Vreeland’s fashion career through her wonderful work. The pages are filled with editorials styled by Vreeland herself. From what I’ve seen, this is a must have in your living room!

3. Daphne Guinness – I’m excited about this one because the exhibit is at my school right now. Valrie Steele, the chief curator of the Museum at FIT, wrote the book for the exhibit. So you guys should pick up the book and visit the exhibit ASAP!

4. The Rise of Fashion and Lessons Learned at Bergdorf Goodman – Ira Neimark was the CEO of Bergdorf Goodman for 17 years, and this book takes a look at his fashion experience while working at the company. The book features behind the scenes photos and tales of the exclusive fashion department store.
